NYC Easter/Passover Weekend Weather Update – Apr 15, 2022

The holiday weekend starts of with sunny skies and mid-60s temps. A cold front Saturday brings rain, and much cooler temps by Easter Sunday only in the low-50s. This cooler trend will continue into Monday as clouds increase ahead of the next storm system. Temps the second half of the weekend will be 8-10ºF below normal, a big contrast from this week!

Rest of today (Good Friday, Passover) – sunny with high temperatures in the mid-60s. This will be the best day of the weekend. Overnight lows in the low-50s with clouds building.

Weather Prediction Center surface forecast for Saturday at 8 AM. A cold front will be approaching during the day.

Saturday – cloudy with rain showers developing later in the day, with high temperatures in the low-60s. Temperatures will fall into the low-40s after a cold front passes through. Shower activity should taper off overnight.

Sunday (Easter) – mostly sunny but much cooler, with high temperatures only hitting the low-50s. This is 8-10ºF below normal for this time of year. Overnight lows dropping back into the low-40s.

GFS model 850 mb temperature anomalies valid for 5 PM Monday. Unlike this week, when we had strong positive anomalies, we’ll be seeing a -6ºC anomaly Monday, leading to much cooler temperatures at the surface.

Monday clouds increasing ahead of the next storm system affecting us, with high temperatures again below normal in the low-50s. Overnight lows in the mid-40s with rain developing.

NYC Easter Weekend Weather – Apr 14, 2017

The weekend ahead brings some of the warmest temperatures yet for the spring season as a summer-like weather pattern takes shape. The warm up will be short-lived, by Tuesday temperatures will be taking a dip below normal in the upper-50s.

Rest of today – mild, partly cloudy, with high temperatures in the mid-60s.

Saturday – increasing clouds, temperatures cooler in the low-60s.

Sunday (Easter) – very warm, high temperatures in the low-80s. Fog early, sunny otherwise, but with a chance for strong thunderstorms late in the day. A warm front will push through overnight Saturday, and a Bermuda high will take hold. This will lead to very warm air surging from the southwest and the Gulf of Mexico into this region.

Monday – not quite as warm as Sunday, but still quite nice with high temperatures in low-70s and mostly sunny skies.

NYC Weekend Weather – Mar 25, 2016

Easter weekend will be bookended by wet weather, but the weekend days themselves should be dry with temperatures around average for this time of year.

Rest of today – an earlier round of showers passed through earlier this morning. Another round of showers and scattered thunderstorms will pass through the region along with a cold front in the afternoon hours. It appears that there will be a good chance for rain between the hours of 12PM-6PM, after which skies should gradually clear.

Saturday – a cooler airmass will take over following the cold front today, so temperatures to start on Saturday will only be around 40ºF. Under mostly sunny skies, the high temperature should still hit normal levels in the low-50s.

Sunday (Easter) – clouds will be on increase for Easter, though no rain is expected. High temperatures will range in the mid-50s.

Monday – our next shot at rain arrives Monday with a warm front and a low pressure system moving up the eastern seaboard. Temperatures will be a bit warmer, in the upper-50s.
